Rachid Opens New 3 Factories and 4th Expansion in Obour

Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry attended a meeting with the members of the Obour City Investors Association. The Meeting was attended by Eng. Amr Assal, IDA Chairman, Adham Nadim, IMC Executive Manager and Moustafa Al Salab, Chairman of the Association. The meeting was held on Tuesday 9/6/2009 within the framework of the minister's visit to Obour Industrial City for opening a number of new factories.

Assal stated that the policy and procedures set by the government such as the guarantee letter and the fee waiver succeeded in compelling the factories to start working as soon as possible. In Obour City for example, there are 587 working factories, 543 under construction and 140 projects obtained their allocated lands.

Previously, Rachid opened in Obour City 3 new factories and 4th expansion in the fields of dairy products, surgical sutures, and plastic containers besides the expansions in the ceramic factory.

The first factory (Best of France) works in the field of dairy products with Egyptian – French investments estimated at LE120 million, production capacity of 180.000 ton / year of which 60% are allocated for exportation, and employs nearly 435 workers. The second factory (Tayseer – Meed Factory) works in the field of surgical sutures with Egyptian capital of LE35 million, produces 150.000 thread dozen / year, exports value of $3 million / year and employs 75 workers.

Moreover, the third factory (Europac) for plastic containers with Lebanon investments of LE22 million, production capacity of LE15 million, exports value of LE2 million and employing 37 workers. There were also expansions in (Royal) factory for ceramic with investments of LE300 million; of which LE100 million new expansions. It produces 50.000 m2 of ceramic / day, exports 405 of the production volume and employs 1748 workers and engineers.
