On Tuesday 18/8/2009, IDA made an open draw on 33 pieces of industrial land remaining in the Sixth of October City on an area of 202.000 m2 and with LE500 million investments providing 20.000 new jobs. This comes at the end of the first phase of the private placement of the lands that have been withdrawn from unserious investors in 6 cities including: 6th of October, 10th of Ramadan, Badr, New Damietta, New Menya and 15th of May.
Minister of Trade and Industry declared that Within the framework of the ministry's policy to make it easier for serious investors and equalize their access to industrial lands, IDA made this draw because more than one investor deserve the same piece of land for the applicability of the requirements on them.
The Minister confirmed that there are rules for allocating the industrial lands such as the priority for the existing activities or that are being implemented or the expansions in the same city. In addition, only one piece of land can be allocated for the investor.
At his side, IDA Chairman stated that 181 investors competed on 33 land units in the industries of Building Materials, chemicals, engineering, food and textile.
IDA Chairman confirmed that 6th of October city is the most demanded city where IDA received 592 requests although the number of pieces in it was 107 on an area of 779.000 m2. 10th of Ramadan also has 305 requests while it has only 29 pieces on an area of 135.000 m2. Besides, Badr city has 238 requests although it has 84 pieces on an area of 197.000 m2. In addition, New Damietta City has 59 requests for 31 pieces on 92000 m2. As for the city of 15th of May, it has 120 requests for 20 pieces on an area of 69.000 m2. Finally, New Menya city has 9 requests for 7 pieces on an area of 67.000 m2.
