 The Industrial Development Authority (IDA) Chairman accompanied by Chinese delegation & the Chinese plenipotentiary minister of trade in Egypt inaugurated the Hisense Chinese Company’s1st factory in Egypt for producing LCD, plasma & Super-Slim T.V. The factory will be established in the 6th of October City with a production capacity of 100,000 screen in the 1st phase, & investment costs of L.E30 million and to providing 100 job opportunities. This came within the framework of increasing the foreign investment rates & job opportunities, besides achieving the President’s electoral program to establish the 1000 factories.
Three companies working in the field of LCD T.V , in accordance to a report issued by IDA about manufacturing LCD T.V, with a production capacity of 65.000 LCD colored T.V & LCD display screen . The companies include Al Arabi for engineering industries Co., LG electronics Co. & Universal for engineering industries, with investment costs of L.E70 million , employing 700 labor.
IDA Chairman, Eng. Amr Assal, announced that there are many advantages of using LCD such as its thickness , which is not more than few inches , its weight, which is more lighter than CRT, besides its power consumption , which is less than the CRT . while its only disadvantage is its higher price than the traditional one.
The total exports of both LCD T.V & LCD display screen has reached 100.756 till 2008 with costs of L.E6.1 million. With regard to the imports, 91.486 LCD T.V has been imported with estimated costs of L.E45.6 million within the 1st 10 months of this year , in addition to importing 19.380 LCD display screen valued at L.E8.2 million.
On the other hand, according to the 1000 factory program , 119 projects had started to produce in 6th of October ,with investment costs of L.E 1.066 billion, providing 9.000 job opportunities .
It is worth mentioning that the Hisense Chinese Co. is considered one of the biggest 10 companies and has 17 factories all over the world in the electronics field , and export its production to more than 100 countries in Europe, Africa, USA & Asia .The company’s production capacity is estimated at 11 million screen annually .
