Under the auspices of Eng. Minister of Trade and Industry, the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) with the cooperation with the export council for Engineering Industries organized the 2nd International Conference for Automotive Industries and Feeding Industries in Frankfort –Germany during the period from 3-4 November 2009.
Chairman of IDA, declared that the conference will discuss the strategy of automotive industry in Egypt in order to attract new investments besides promoting the Egyptian industry to international companies.
IDA Chairman indicated that the automotive industry's strategy depends on 6 main axes including commitment to international specifications, activating the free trade agreements between Egypt and other countries, developing the logistic operations, increasing the percentage of the local content , production and exporting to abroad. He also added that this strategy will lead to create more competition in the international markets. Furthermore, more investments and job opportunities will be available.
The Strategy also will include replacing and renewing personal cars.
IDA Chairman pointed out that the strategy aims at reaching to half million cars, 300 of them will be for export and the rest will be for the local market at the year 2020.
Eng. Ashraf Dowidar,The Head of the Central Department of Planning, Marketing and Information at IDA, illustrated that 26 Egyptian Companies and 37 Foreign Companies such as Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Pak, General Motors, Hyundai, Leonie and Nissan will participate in the conference.
