During his meeting with the members of The Chemical Export
Council (CEC), Minister of Trade
and Industry confirmed that the ministry of Trade and Industry
(MTI) will not back down from preventing the Chinese industrial
goods with no certificates of inspection and conformity
from entering the Egyptian market. The minister pointed out
that MTI ready to take more decisions to protect consumers
through providing high quality products and creating fair competition
Furthermore, Minister of Trade and Industry declared that there are procedures
taken to face the arbitrary practices in the market such
as establishing an observatory to receive complaints
from manufacturers and traders concerning any harmful
practices in the local market. This comes in cooperation
between MTI represented in Industrial Control authority
and the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and
Quality on one hand and the Federation of Industries on
the other hand.
Moreover, the minister said that according to the added value, new exporting support will be presented next fiscal year. The support presented to investments not based on economic or marketing studies will be redirected to sectors in need of it.
In addition, Minister of Trade and Industry confirmed that the Egyptian industry is able to increase its production to achieve the national plan objectives specially the LE200 billion non-oil exports in 2013.
For his part, IDA Chairman pointed out that 3681 factories working in the chemical sector are registered at IDA with investments of about LE80 billion and have 270000 employers. Besides, 293 factories with LE20 billion investments are established within the 1000 factories, targeted in The President's election program. In addition, 3.2 m2 of industrial lands allocated for 419 new projects working in this sector.
As for facilitating procedures, IDA Chairman said that IDA is keen to do that specially for the chemical sector in which group a projects are approved in an hour while the group B (energy intensive industries) projects take one week.
Moreover, IDA Chairman said that the chemical industries targeted in the Deepening Industry Strategy include the rare and radioactive minerals such as black sands, Titanium dioxide, Sodium Carbonate and Pyrex and Graphite Products.
