Within the framework of the President's electoral program of establishing 1000 factories and subsidizing Upper Egypt governorates, LE19.5 million were granted to the New Valley governorate. IDA Chairman accompanied by General Ahmed Mokhtar, New Valley Governorate opened on Sunday 28/6/2009 the factory of Al Tahan Company for packaging the dried date and its sweets at AL Kharga Industrial Zone. The factory is established on an area of 2609 m2 with LE2.8 million and provides 120 job opportunities.
Mokhtar said that the Ministry of Trade and Industry's plan to develop Upper Egypt through IDA Fund for Subsidizing and Utilizing the Industrial Zones helped in developing Kharga industrial zone. LE19.5 million out of LE538 million were granted to Upper Egypt governorates with the aim of utilizing 99 feddans. The number of new industrial projects increased, after granting the subsidy, to 21 projects with LE440 million investments. The subsidy was allocated for finishing the water main networks. In addition Juheina Company will obtain a part of this subsidy as it will invest LE15 million in a factory for food industries providing 250 job opportunities.
IDA Chairman stated that granting the subsidy to Kharga industrial zone led to establishing 28 new projects, currently under construction, with LE2.4 million investments and provide 1950 job opportunities, in addition to 11 existing factories with LE14 million investments and provide 1909 job opportunities. Upper Egypt governorates encompass 46 major projects with over LE12 billion investments,
IDA Chairman pointed out.
It worth mentioning that the number of Upper Egypt factories established within the framework of the 1000 factory program reached 268 projects with LE3.2 billion investments and provide 12886 job opportunities.
