Minister of Trade & Industry announced that the Industrial Development Authority (IDA) will set a comprehensive plan of Kom Oshim industrial zone on an area of 32 million m2 within 6 months that will contain about 1300 new factories. The new industrial zone is the geographical extension of 6th of October City & the allocation of lands will be started within 2 years through which 43.000 job opportunities will be provided, the Minister added. In addition, the factories will be established relying upon the local materials & the agricultural crops to produce goods for exportation with investments of L.E76 billion.
Minister of Trade & Industry pointed out that the 1st trade areas is located in Al Haram in Giza Governorate on an area of 27.000 m2, while the other is located in Samouha in Alexandria Governorate on an area of 35.000 m2 .
IDA Chairman, announced that 135 small & medium factories will be established at Kom Oshim industrial zone, in addition to 115 factories under construction. And thus, Kom Oshim industrial zone is considered one of the largest industrial zones in Egypt which has various strategic advantages, such as its labor-intensive & its nearness from the domestic markets & the new road which link the zone with Al-Sokhna port.
