Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Minister of Trade and industry confirmed that the ministry is bound to implement Mubarak's electoral program for developing the Egyptian industry sector through implementing a comprehensive set of rules and procedures to encourage the investment in the industrial field. In this respect, the ministry provides lands for the industrial activity in suitable low prices, besides the technical training and support to raise the Egyptian worker's capabilities. Moreover it develops the set of quality standards to cope up with the international systems and establishes Egyptian markets to serve the internal trade sector. The minister pointed out that the ministry's plan concerning the industrial development aims at increasing the local content and technology of the industrial products and enhancing the exports. This came during the visit of the minister, on Wednesday 7/10 to 6th of October City, accompanied by Eng. Amr Assal, IDA Chairman, where they visited 2 factories; the first for dry food products (children milk, Nescafe, powder milk, chicken stock) with LE57 million Swiss investments and a productivity of 20.000 ton a year of which it exports 5.000 tons providing 600 job opportunities. The second is a factory for ice cream with LE66.8 million and a productivity of 30 million liter of ice cream directed to the local market providing 1000 job opportunities.
The Minister stated that Nestle Co. is one of the important Swiss investments in Egypt. It presents a great value added to the Egyptian industry, as it exports most of its production from Egypt to the Middle East Region and Africa, provides job opportunities to the Egyptian labor, and depends on using Egyptian agricultural raw materials in its products. Moreover, it utilizes the production and packaging materials manufactured in Egyptian small and medium factories.
IDA Chairman, Amr Assal who visited Nestle Factory 2, said that the expansions in the new factory is part of the 1000 factory program, and there are 123 factories, within the framework of this program, in 6th of October City.
