IDA Chairman, Amr Assal, signed a cooperation protocol with Fayoum Governor, Galal Mostafa Said, on 22nd May, 2008. According to this protocol, IDA will pay LE36 million through its Fund for Subsidizing Establishment, Servicing and Development of Industrial Zones to Fayoum Governorate for completing Kom Aushim industrial zone's infrastructure. This protocol comes within the framework of President Mubarak's electoral program which aims at providing 1.5 million job opportunities in the governorate's industrial zones.

Assal stated that this subsidization will contribute to providing industrial lands in Kom Aushim industrial zone covering an area of 139 acres (584,000 M2 approximately). The protocol includes completion of the industrial zone's infrastructure of electricity, roads, drinking water & sewage.

Assal pointed out that the protocol comes under the plan implemented by IDA for developing the industrial zones nationwide, in order to provide investment – attracting lands which are expected to reach nearly 16 million M2.
