IDAChairman, Eng. Amr Assal signed on Thursday July 3rd, 2008 a cooperation protocol between IDA (The Industrial Development Authority) and Ismaelia governorate to subsidize Aby Khalifa (Al Amal suburb) industrial zone. It is expected to build 1400 factories providing 500.000 job opportunities, allocate 1500 acres for establishing an integrated residential compound to embrace 85.000 people, in addition to allocating 500 acres for the touristic zone which encompasses 180 establishments and provides 7.000 job opportunities.
According to this protocol, Aby Khalifa industrial zone will be subsidized in order to complete its infrastructure through IDA's Fund for Subsidizing Establishment, Servicing and Development of Industrial Zones. The zone has already received LE37 million of the subsidy as a first phase…Ismaelia Governor pointed out that the free zone covers 700 acres; only 100 acres were utilized within the last 4 years, while the last 100 is being utilized.
The protocol comes within the framework of Ministry of Trade and Industry policy for subsidizing the industrial zones. LE400 million were paid to 22 governorates lately; 20% of supporting delta governorates was allocated for Ismaelia governorate. The subsidy has a great impact on governorates like Beni Sueif, ismaelia, Asuit, and Menoufia which were financed with LE131 million, and their projects increased from 378 to 494 with LE2 billion investments, providing 16.000 job opportunities.
