• Land allocation for investors in the available & vacant industrial zones:
Conditions of area allocation for poultry automatic slaughterhouses in the industrial zones: |

- Water supply for industrial use.
- Suitable sewage environment.
- Sanitary incinerators approved by Health Ministry for slaughtering by-products.
- The area allocated must not be adjacent to any activities contradicting with poultry slaughtering activity.
- Permanent electricity supply to operate freezing tunnels and cooling stores of slaughtered poultry.

• IDA approves establishing automatic & half-automatic
slaughterhouses if the slaughterhouse holds prior approval
of the Ministry of Agriculture (General Organization for
Veterinary Services) |
• IDA qualifies the equipment & machinery of slaughterhouse after conducting inspection to give it the certificate of registration in the industrial registry & verifying availability of the following equipment & machinery (units): |

1- Processing & hanging unit to
prepare poultry for slaughtering
2- Slaughtering & bleeding unit
3- Scalding & depluming unit
4- Gutting unit
5- Leg & neck cutting unit
6- Examination & washing unit
7- Packing unit
8- Freezing tunnel
9- Freezer
10- Waste treatment unit
11- Water treatment unit (service units)
(Provided that all these
units are made of stainless steel) |
• IDA issues its approval in accordance with the conditions & regulations set for this sector by the different ministries (Ministry of Agriculture represented by the General Organization for Veterinary Services – Ministry of Health & Population – Environmental Affairs Agency) as follows: |

A- Specifications of poultry slaughterhouses in conformity with the Environmental Affairs Agency's conditions:
|
|
1- Floors must be covered with waterproof & easy-to-clean layers; thermally isolated ceilings; slaughter & processing sheds must have ceramic-lined walls, ventilation equipment & suction fans; complete separation between the slaughterhouse's sections (receiving – slaughter – processing – packing) in respect of area, ventilation and drainage in compliance with the instructions and conditions of the Ministry of Housing & Population and the General Organization for Veterinary Services.
2- Good ventilation by installing the necessary exhaust fans and
3- Using an environmental-friendly substance in the two
processes of preservation and cooling. 4- Availability of
strainers on basins in the places allocated for slaughtering
and cleani
5- Preserving meat and bones in a refrigerator in case of poultry bonning.
6- Daily cleaning of gathering & processing places, making use of the detergents recommended for foodstuff factories.
7- Treating waste water in the industrial sewage treatment unit, with the necessity of isolating the gathering tank to prevent pollution of the surrounding soil & removing drainage periodically by an accredited authority.
8- Transporting the slaughterhouse's wastes by an authorized contractor, and prohibiting incineration in barrels / unapproved incinerators or burial of wastes in unapproved burial places.
9- Observing properness of work environment and safety of workers with the necessity of providing protective clothes and doing medical check-up of workers periodically.
10- Removing dead poultry & solid wastes by an authorized contractor to be safely disposed of.
11- Devising a plan to control insects and rodents.
12- Preparing the environmental register, in which the sources of poultry and their health condition are recorded, and making it available in case of environmental inspection.

No. 1835/2000 regarding conditions & specifications of
poultry slaughterhouses) :

a. General conditions required to be fulfilled when applying for licensing automatic & half-automatic slaughterhouses.
