Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), Eng. Amr Assal, signed a cooperation protocol with Dakahlia Governor, Ahmed Said Sawwan on Dec. 4, 2007 for financing Gamasa industrial zone with LE15 million as a 1st phase to complete its infrastructure. This came during opening of IDA office in the Business Facilitating Center in Gamasa industrial zone (One-Stop Shop (OSS)), Dakahlia Governorate, in the presence of the Canadian Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Philip MacKinnon.
The protocol is aimed at supporting & developing Gamasa industrial zone. The Industrial Zones Establishment, Servicing & Development Fund is to finance the 202-feddan zone with an amount of LE15 million as a 1st phase to complete its infrastructure. There is a study presently under preparation for servicing & developing the 2nd phase which covers 256 feddans. The value required will be determined according to the results of study. It is noteworthy that the total area of Gamasa industrial zone is 727 feddans & the investments of current projects are estimated at LE265 million.
Gamasa OSS provides a number of services including direct services, without referring to IDA headquarter such as issuing & renewing preliminary or final approval of setting up an industrial project; modifying data of preliminary & final approvals whether related to area, increasing production capacity, adding an activity, expansion or legal entity; changing the location and obtaining authentic copy or exemplification of the preliminary or final approval.
Indirect services rendered by Gamasa OSS include approval of import invoices of raw materials & production requirements necessary for starting up production, operating tests and importing both new and used equipment & machinery in addition to issuing the licenses of establishing storehouses of poisonous & non-poisonous chemicals.
In the field of local manufacturing, Gamasa OSS will determine the percentage of local manufacturing in assembly industries to apply customs reductions; issuing a letter to the General Authority for Export & Import Control indicating the percentage of local manufacturing with the aim to export & issue the temporary customs release letters of imported components and the requests for giving consent to importing the components of projects.
