Dr. Mohamed El Morshedy stated that smuggling and dumping are two of the major problems that face the Egyptian textile industry. He confirmed on the necessity of controlling the imports to prevent importing non-conforming clothes that could cause sterility, allergy and cancer. In Addition, these non-conforming clothes affect the local products badly due to the great difference in cost.
IDA Chairman said that the smuggling phenomenon threatens the local industry entirely, not only the textile industry. In order to solve this problem the government and the private sector should cooperate together to agree on the work system. They have to differentiate between the systems of free zones, temporary admission and the internal investment.
The raw materials imported for free zones have to conform to the factory's industrial registry and its productivity. GAFI has to abide by releasing the raw material or goods according to the bills only,
IDA Chairman confirmed.
