Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry confirmed that the ministry seeks to enhance the Egyptian quality set as a major pivot to raise the competitive ability of the Egyptian products internally and externally, in addition to increasing the industrial growth rates. All countries all over the world endeavor to upgrade their industry and increase their exports, the minister pointed out.
This came in the minister's speech in the opening of the first International Conference "Quality and The Future" on Monday morning, 11/1/2010. The speech was delivered by Eng. Amr Assal, IDA Chairman on the behalf of the minister. The conference is organized by the National Institute for Quality.
The opening session was attended by a number of the international quality leaders and experts as well as 300 of Egyptian companies' chairmen and quality experts.
The Minister stated that Egypt created a national plan for quality that evolved into a national program includes all quality elements. The most important elements are the Egyptian standards that conform to the international and European standards. In this respect, more than 300 Egyptian factories of the public and private sectors were accredited.
Moreover, Rachid indicated that the National Institute for Quality was established to set the policies and strategies related to raising the quality sets in the industrial establishments and the related services.
The success of Egypt in increasing its exports from $2 billion to $14 billion was due to the government's efforts in advancing the quality and price of the Egyptian product. At the end of the speech the minister appealed to the participants to prepare the basics of supporting the future quality strategy till 2020.
